Time 2 pm Saturday DC to 7 pm still in flight to San Francisco
A short line, rolling bag checked (nice bag she said), through security with only a daubing of my back pack, though I was surprised at the number of items I had to remove or deal with; plastic bag of eye drops in back pack, computer, shoes, my neck pouch, untying my shoes, vest, back pack, camera bag – a veritable train of items rolling through the x-ray. There were problems all over the system today. Planes not arriving on time, not showing up at all. There were supposed to be United flights all afternoon, but only the 530, the one on which I was booked was flying. Lucky, had already checked in, had seat assignments etc.. Spent some time in the Red Carpet Club, electricity didn’t work at the plugs near my seat.
My Dell electric cord for the laptop works perfectly in the airplane seat plug.
Had forgotten my cell phone voicemail code temporarily. ****, I finally remembered and picked up the gates for the flights from United.
Trying to stay awake so that I will fall asleep more rapidly on the Australia flight. Very happy I got an upgrade, even if it was costly. So now I continue into the night, only occasionally lights below, we’re over Wyoming or Montana, heading into San Francisco. Should be beautiful this almost cloudless night. Down below, if it were day, we might see the drifting deep snows which so paralyzed the Denver office of EPS.

A scrumptious meal on United. Short ribs a jus.
I think of Sharon and the cat boys. I miss them. Certainly the adventure upon which I now embark harkens back to my days traveling for Firestone to Spain, Italy, Germany, Phillipines, Thailand, Japan, Hawaii.
I am reading Recognitions by Gaddis. The principle character is in Paris, walking alone at night and I am remembering being lost on the wrong side of the Seine. “Are you lost?” he said as he held the newspaper with the
picture of Jesus to my face.

I am thankful that I can see. I am still about 11,000 miles from Auckland as the planes fly…… It is 7 pm in San Francisco. I didn’t leave my heart there but what memories Sharon and I have of that beautiful place from 23 years ago.

Do they have DC power in all cabins on the 777 or only Business/1st?
