Alas, my hope to see the cats of the Acropolis was dashed by the huge human crowd that was on the hilltop during my visit. The cats had run for cover. Not so on Monday, however, when we went to Hydra Island for the day. The sun was shining and the long regular boat ride took us to the quaint harbor of a place that has only one gas powered vehicle - the dump truck that picks up garbage, takes the garbage to the port from where the garbage leaves the island.
So it is a beautiful pristine place with only donkeys for transportation. If you live outside the small village which surrounds the harbor, you have a donkey to carry you and your groceries home. Nice place. Also nice for cats. Cats have free reign of the island. They even climb onto the awnings of the cafes along the quay. Lots of extra fun while you are drinking an ALPHA.
