When the sun goes down on Paros and you are sitting in the restaurant at the Yria Hotel, this is what you see. As the darkness gathers, then there is an occasional little snake that appears on the lawn. But do not fear, the cats are there to protect you. They leap and run and corner the poor little reptile so skilfully that ones wonders why the snakes try to reach the swimming pool at all.
At our favorite cafe near Alikiya Beach on the southwest side of the island Paros, the cafe has a trio of swallows who have placed a nest in the overhead light in the dining area.
Near the cafe there is a short cove where small fishing boats are anchored. Only a little activity now, before the season starts. Fresh paint and some nets being repaired. Later in the month of May there will be frenetic activity as the fishermen fill their nets to feed the tourists.
Typical alley on the island of AntiParos. Everyone who has the balance, rides a motor bike or scooter. The alleys are too narrow for even the smallest cars.
