Early morning on the way to Oslo, Norway
We sailed to Oslo on an overnight ferry. Although we had a private room, it was cramped and I didn't sleep well. I got up early and went topside. We were in the still waters of the north, silent, gray and I could hear the sounds of a symphony playing softly somewhere in my head.
Exiting the ferry into the cool morning of Oslo was disorienting. The other passengers, mostly local residents who had taken a trip to Sweden, were talkative and quite assertive in their rush to leave the ship. They had their arms loaded with duty free beer, vodka, cigarettes and other items which they had purchased in the store on board the ship.

It rained all morning as our bus found its way past the U.S. ambassador's home. "No!" we told our guide, we didn't know the ambassodor, not even his name.
Arriving at Viegeland's park, though, made the rain seem to disappear.

What did Gustav Viegeland say about his sculpture? "If you want to see me, you must come to Oslo......" and so it is. Virtually 90+% of all his life's work are found in the one park. Sphere: Related Content
