Stalking the Big Brown - Khurangi National Park

New pictures from Andy make it possible to
recreate a great fishing moment.
Even in the clear water of the Karamea River, sighting the brown trout requires a sharp eye as the brightly colored fish silently maneuvers through the shadows cast by the moraine which forms the bed of this wilderness river. Richard Booth, an affable and expertly skilled guide has been watching these shadows for years. He knows their predilections for accepting a fly and how to put his clients on to these amazing creatures.

We spot the shadow as the brown trout passes between the sun and a lighter colored boulder.
