A Word About The Guide

Doug Lane is a great fly fisherman and a great guide. He is also knows the right people – the kind of people you would enjoy hanging out with for a few magical days in New Zealand or most anywhere else in the world from the Jackson River in southern Virginia to the mystical haunts of the great browns and rainbows of the North and South Islands. That’s why I joined up with Anglers’ Lane of Forest, Virginia and Doug’s Canterbury Tales-like band of anglers as we explored our way to the Lodges at Tongariro and Rotoroa. It’s a long way to New Zealand from Virginia or Maryland or Pennsylvania or Rapid City, South Dakota but Doug’s relationship with Best of New Zealand Fly Fishing and their very experienced staff in Los Angeles made the transfers and accommodation arrangements smooth as could be.

Out on the streams and rivers that flow through sheep farms and glacial moraines and wild rocky rainforest national parks only reached by helicopter, the local guides chosen by Doug Lane were the best. Our guides were internationally recognized experts who made stalking and catching these behemoths of the crystal clear waters an amazing and enjoyable adventure. Do you want to catch the fish of a lifetime??? Two days in a row??? I did.

Come to New Zealand or on any of Doug's other international and domestic trips from http://www.anglerslane.com/. He knows where the big trout are. We caught them and gently returned them to the stream for you to catch next time. Sphere: Related Content
