Hat on the Plane

As we exited the Air New Zealand flight from Wellington to Nelson, my friend GL stepped onto the tarmac just as a gust of wind swept up and blew his favorite fishing hat, a Columbia aircraft hat, up and onto the plane. The wind receded and the hat slid along the top of the plane fuselage. Then it stopped. GL asked the cabin attendant. She looked up and asked for the captain. The captain came out and he stared at the hat, doing and saying nothing. However, eventually, a ground crewman realized that the hat was caught on the attenna and could not stay there so the hat was retrieved and brought to GL at the luggage area. Amazing.

I'm curious, was that look more of an "I'll be darned" stare, or "I don't like people messing with my plane and I'm gonna explode if that thing doesn't come off right this second" type of silence?
